2010 Made in New Zealand

An established performance season, Footnote Dance takes the stage with a new programme of contemporary dance featuring a diverse range of works. Celebrating NZ Music Month, the works in the show are created by top New Zealand choreographers Sarah Foster, Malia Johnston, Michael Parmenter and Ross McCormack and use new New Zealand music as a key feature of their commissions. This season tours the country, and is taken into performance venues and schools throughout NZ.

Museum Hotel Watch This Space - Maatakitakihia Mai Tenei Waahi

This is site-specific dance performed and inspired by current exhibitions in Art Galleries around the country. Footnote Dance performs improvisation in the gallery space to a public audience.

Dance+Art Workshops

A new initiative for 2010, Footnote Dance works with secondary school students in Art Galleries, investigating art from a dance and movement perspective, and giving students a chance to create dance in response to visual artists’ work.

 New Zealand National Day Performance - Shanghai World Expo 9th July 2010

The National Day performance(s) will be held in a purpose built venue which seats approximately 2,500, attended by the Prime Minister, Chinese Premier, senior government officials, guests, VIP’s, media, etc. The overall Expo theme is “Better Cities, Better Lives” and the performance will be an emotional and visually strong work that will take the viewer on a journey through song, voice, image, film and dance. The Creative Team involves Footnote Dance, the New Zealand Trio, Moana and the Tribe and Aivale Cole, led by John Verryt, (Set Design), Mike Hodgson (Visuals and Film), Jeremy Fern (Lighting) and Malia Johnston (Choreographer/Creative Advisor).
