Summer!

The beginning of another year and Summer is ceratinly Sizzling! Our 2010 is looking very exciting and you can diary your Footnote year by checking our ‘dates for the diary’ on our What’s On page.

We are thrilled to welcome Lucy Marinkovich to the company and to announce that Robbie Curtis will join us in March. He is currently seconded to Australian Dance Theatre in Adelaide.

Our Footnote year started on 2nd Jan with a four day workshop “Open Your Eyes” for the 11th New Zealand Scout Venture. Check out the photos here. Over 600 young venturers descended on Wellington and 40 of them were dancing with Footnote! Deirdre, Jeremy, Anita and Claire took them through a range of workshops ending with a great showing that included a hi-energy tribute to Michael Jackson, a tango sequence and a composition based on the “Open Your Eyes” theme of the whole event.

Now we are on with Footnote Choreolab, an inspirational beginning to the year, involving the Company, professional freelance dancers, multi-disciplinary Creative Teams and an impressive array of tutors. Featuring technique classes taken by Malia Johnston and Matt Smith, masterclasses by Jo Randerson, Nina Nawalowalo, Bruce Greenfield, Bret McKenzie, Sarah Foster and Rowan Pierce. A wide range of subjects; Contemporary dancers need a wide palette of skills and thefirst week of Choreolab is focused on these.

Two 36.6.3 projects (36 hours, 6 dancers and 3 creative leaders) will take the space, led by Julia Milsom, Rick Harvie and Stephen Bain in week two, and Kate Stevenson, Zahra Killeen-Chance and Rhys Latton in week three.

Alongside Choreolab the Footnote Dancers are working with Sarah Foster who is creating a new work for the 2010 Made in New Zealand tour later in the year.
